Here’s the deal.
i’m sitting in my dorm, finishing up a bag of popcorn, and i notice the kernels at the bottom of the bag. 
a lonely, forgotten bunch for sure.
sometimes i like to bite into them to give them a modicum of purpose, but we all know they are the unwanted stragglers of the starch world.
then i notice something.
a BUNCH of these kernels have some beautiful yellow popcorn protruding from their axis!! like flowers in half-bloom!!
i witnessed firsthand the delicious potential time seems to have aborted and deprived my taste buds from.

then it hits me.

THESE HALFSIES ONLY HAVE THEMSELVES TO BLAME.
they see other kernels popping on to bigger and better things, but they refuse to release their inner potential.
heat pulls the essence of their greatness like a magnet from their cores!! urging the kernels to embrace their glorious destinies!!

but they resist.

they want to do things their own way.
some kernels think they’re above the others. they think they’ll go on to be corns on the cobs some day!! they think they can rustle up some cream and dive into greatness that way, but they miss the mark.
they regard themselves like gods.
they want to forge destinies through their own faculties and achievements.

but they’re just kernels.

if only they’d submitted to the working hands of the man who put their bag into the microwave.
if only they’d embraced the natural response of all that is within them and allowed themselves to pop.
maybe then they’d see glory.
and maybe then i’d be less hungry.
